Definition: the reader make judgments, opinions, and statements about what is read and explain why they made they think so.
Purpose: Students be able to solve problems and make judgement about a text to help comprehend the text. Also to have students learn how to back up an opinion using resources, such as the information from the text.

In this strategy students use writing throughout to comprehend the text. For example in lesson 2, students are writing about something they found interesting, sketching, or writing words. This lesson demonstrates how this evaluating can incorporate writing into a reading comprehension lesson. More so than not, this strategy uses writing, because students have to make judgement about the text, but they need to text to support it.
